Magic Junk Radio 11: Slow Ahead

Somebody once said that what we do every day is nothing more than distractions from the fact that we are slowly dying. Oh wait, that was Sahm who said that. Well, shit. Nevertheless, what those distractions are is entirely up to you. Some people watch lots of TV, some people enjoy the nightlife, some people have kids and spend twenty years taking care of them. Us? We podcast. That’s our distraction. Luckily, our podcast doesn’t need to be recorded on Tivo, have it’s diaper changed, or cause damage to our livers.

Thus, Magic Junk Radio 11: Slow Ahead comes to you with no baggage, free of charge to all. In a perfect world, we’d have titled this ‘full steam ahead’, but MJR 11 is more like a tank— advancing methodically in the world of sound production, but still blowing shit up. The chemically bonded duo of M. Sahm and S.Rod deliver a podcast worthy of a music critic’s cackle, a sustained foot tap, and a suite of catchy synth earwigs to follow you as you tend to your own distractions.

Clocking in a chum tossing 34:21, MJR 11 pulls no punches, and is not afraid to tell you that you have cilantro stuck in your teeth. Some may even dare to say that there are a few parts of this podcast that sound like the work of a professional, instead of two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl. But year after year, MJR continues on to bring you their best efforts in audio butchery. As always, leave us some feedback if you have a minute. Thanks. Take it easy.

First feedback item data point: I’m never going to forgive you for “Game Select.” The — I don’t want to give anything away — base track for that is about as insidious as that Suzanne Vega “Tom’s Diner” song. I have hatred in my heart.

    We had the Apple IIGS.

I’ll see you on the Dark Side of the Moon!

That clinched it for me. I love the closing track. That’s a favorite single for me.

Who knew “Tom’s Diner’s” is electronica? Only a keen ear could catch that. :P

Whatever “Tom’s Diner” is, it is a plague upon the collective sanity of those infected by it.

Josh, I’m surprised that you didn’t say how your remix was better than Dawn’s.

Saleski, you’re probably a better person for not owning one. I’ve met more than a few people who have wasted years worth of their lives playing games. Talk about a bad thing to have on your tombstone. Well that, and saying you buy remastered versions of CDs you already own.

That was hiGHLARIOUS!! Great stuff, other than my voice sounding like the screeching nails on a chalkboard. That must have been a major pain culling all those gems of psychosis.

All in all, that’s some great stuff. Where have I been that I was unaware of all this electronic goodness?

May I use that as my bumper? Do I have to pay ASCAP fees?

ARRRGGHHHH, why can’t I be blessed with musical talent?

Dawn, glad you liked it! Thanks for listening.

S.Rod spent a great deal of time getting all of the music and effects fine tuned, but your one-liners were perfectly laid out for us, easy to cut out. Much better than that Hathaway fellow.

We would be honored if you used it as bumper music… here is the Wiki page for the song, there is a download link near the top. If you need it edited down, just let us know!
